Fahmida Ahmed, Manager, Sustainability Program, Stanford University Ms. Ahmed leads the campus sustainability programs at Stanford. She co-chairs the Sustainability Working Group, connects the Sustainability Working Teams, coordinates implementation of sustainability projects, supports Stanford’s long term climate and infrastructure planning, and manages the office’s communications and community relations programs. Before joining Stanford, Fahmida served as the campus Sustainability Specialist at UC Berkeley, where she steered sustainability related strategic efforts. She managed their climate program (climateaction.berkeley.edu) that delivered UC Berkeley’s climate target. |

Gregg D. Ander, FAIA, Chief Architect of Southern California Edison Mr. Ander was the Executive Producer of six environmentally focused television programs for NBC, CBS, and PBS. One program, “Greener Buildings/Bluer Skies,” won a 2006 Emmy award. Mr. Ander is a member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Building Industry Council (SBIC), the New Buildings Institute (NBI), the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), and the California Commissioning Collaborative (CCC). Ray Anderson, Founder and Chairman, Interface, Inc. Ray Anderson experienced a now legendary “spear in the chest” epiphany upon first reading Paul Hawken’s The Ecology of Commerce. Thirteen years and a sea change later, Interface, Inc., is approximately 40 percent to its target of “Mission Zero,” the journey no one would have imagined for the company, or the petroleum-intensive industry of carpet manufacturing, which has been forever changed by Mr. Anderson’s vision. The once captain of industry, now environmentalist, authored a book chronicling his journey, Mid-Course Correction. He is an unlikely screen hero in the 2004 Canadian documentary The Corporation, and has a master commentator role on the new Sundance series Big Ideas for a Small Planet. Mr. Anderson was named one of Elle magazine’s heroes with the Green Awards in 2007. He’s a sought after speaker and advisor on all issues eco, including a stint as co-chairman of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development. |

Daniel Aronson, Corporate Social Responsibility Consultant Daniel Aronson has been a consultant for nearly a decade and a half, and in that time has worked with organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups and nonprofits. He has a particular specialty in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a subject in which he has worked and done research for the better part of a decade, and in social media. As part of his work in CSR, Daniel acquired IBM’s first CSR strategy client, the announcement of which appeared in over 30 media outlets including MSNBC, ZDNet, CNN/Money, and many others. |

Janine Benyus, Author, Biologist, Co-founder of Biomimicry Guild Janine Benyus is a biologist, innovation consultant, and author of six books, including Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature. In Biomimicry, she names an emerging discipline that seeks sustainable solutions by emulating nature’s designs and processes (for instance, solar cells that mimic leaves). Since the book’s 1997 release, Janine has evolved the practice of biomimicry, consulting with sustainable businesses and conducting seminars about what we can learn from the genius that surrounds us. Her favorite role is biologist-at-the-design-table, introducing innovators to organisms whose well-adapted designs have been tested over 3.8 billion years. |

Peter Boyer, National Solutions Council Chair, Rocky Mountain Institute Peter Boyer was born in 1948 in New York. He attended the University of Oregon, and graduated with a B.A. in American Studies from San Francisco State University. He owned and operated a design-build residential construction firm for 10 years. In 1985 Boyer turned to full time practice of fine art painting, which had been the focus of his university training. His work has been exhibited widely both in the U.S. and Japan, and is owned by numerous private and public collections. In addition to his studio practice, Boyer serves as a trustee of The Ayrshire Foundation which has been a lead donor to the “Cooling the Warming” project at R.M.I. He has recently joined the National Advisory Board of the Union of Concerned Scientists, and is currently the chair of RMI’s National Solutions Council. He joined the Board of Trustees at RMI. in 2008. Peter lives in San Francisco with his wife and two teenage children. |

Christopher B. Cady, Division President, Pulte Home Corporation. Mr. Cady has been in the homebuilding industry for over 22 years and has been the Division President for Pulte Homes in the Greater Sacramento and Reno areas for the past 14. Aimée Christensen, CEO, Christensen Global Strategies As CEO of Christensen Global Strategies, Aimée advises clients including the Clinton Global Initiative, Duke Energy, the United Nations Development Program, Virgin Unite, and Wolfensohn & Co. Trained as an environmental and energy lawyer, Aimée has developed climate change and sustainability strategy in the corporate, governmental, and philanthropic sectors. She previously worked with Google.org, the World Bank, Environment2004, and Baker & McKenzie, and she negotiated the first bilateral and regional agreements on climate change while at the U.S. Department of Energy in the 1990s. Aimée introduced Al Gore at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and addressed the 2008 Democratic National Convention. She has a BA from Smith College, and a JD from Stanford Law School, where she wrote the University’s “Climate Change and Investment Responsibility Policy” adopted by the Trustees in 1999. |

Paul Hawken, Author, Environmentalist, Entrepreneur Paul Hawken is an author, having written seven books including The Next Economy (Ballantine 1983), Growing a Business (Simon and Schuster 1987), The Ecology of Commerce (HarperCollins 1993), Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution (Little Brown, September 1999) co-authored with Amory Lovins. Robert Rosner, University of Chicago , Astronomy and Astrophysics Mr. Rosner is the William E. Wrather Distingushed Service Professor at the University of Chicago, in the Departments of Astronomy & Astrophysics and Physics, in the Enrico Fermi Institute, and in the Computation Institute. He recently stepped down as Director of Argonne National Laboratory, where he also served as Chief Scientist and Associate Lab Director for basic sciences; and was the founding Chair of the DOE National Laboratory Directors’ Council. Bob’s academic research is mostly in theoretical and computational fluid dynamics and plasma physics, much of it oriented towards problems that can be explored experimentally in terrestrial laboratories. Laura Schewel, UC Berkeley, Energy and Resources Group Laura Schewel is currently a graduate student at UC Berkeley in the Energy and Resources Group. Previously, she worked at RMI, co-founding the transportation team in 2006. Laura led RMI’s vehicle electrification program for two years, during which time she designed the Smart Garage Charrette and created Project Get Ready. Andrew Smith, Chief Executive Officer, ATDynamics, Inc. Mr. Smith is Founder and CEO of Advanced Transit Dynamics, Inc. (ATDynamics), a company delivering fuel-saving tractor-trailer aerodynamics technology capable of saving the US trucking industry over $3 billion in fuel expenditures annually. Jon Wellinghoff, Chairman, Federal Energy Regulation Commission Chairman Wellinghoff’s priorities at FERC include opening wholesale electric markets to renewable resources, providing a platform for participation of demand response and other distributed resources in wholesale electric markets including energy efficiency and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and promoting greater efficiency in our nation’s energy infrastructure through the institution of advanced technologies and system integration. He was instrumental in creating FERC’s Energy Innovations Sector (EIS), which is responsible for investigating and promoting new efficient technologies and practices in the energy sectors under FERC’s jurisdiction. Paul Westbrook, Sustainable Development Manager, Texas Instruments Mr. Westbrook headed the sustainable design effort for TI’s 300mm semiconductor manufacturing plant (fab) in Richardson, TX which was the first LEED Gold fab in the world. As a follow up, TI earned the first LEED certification of any type in the Philippines with a LEED Silver for an Assembly/Test facility in Baguio. Paul is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at TI. Michael Wheeler, California Public Utilities Commission Michael Wheeler serves as an Adviser to Commissioner Dian Grueneich of the California Public Utilities Commission and covers a host of different regulatory issues including Residential energy efficiency. Michael recently led the Residential Sector Strategic Planning process for the CPUC’s Energy Division. Michael was the project manager and principle analyst from the CPUC for the energy efficiency goals update for 2012-2020. He is also the lead analyst on the Governor’s Green Building Initiative. Prior to joining the CPUC in 2006, Michael worked for the Environmental Protection Agency and National Renewable Energy Laboratory on a variety of energy issues in Washington DC. Michael has a B.A. in Energy Efficiency from the Evergreen State College and a M.S in Energy Policy from the University of Delaware. |

Jane Woodward, Founder and CEO, MAP Jane Woodward is a founder of MAP and its Chief Executive Officer. MAP is a fund manager, based in Palo Alto, CA, that forms natural gas and renewable energy royalty partnerships on behalf of endowment, foundation and family investors. MAP also has a significant corporate commitment to sustainable energy education initiatives, largely benefiting Stanford University students. Prior to founding MAP, Ms. Woodward worked as an exploration geologist with ARCO Exploration Company and later as a petroleum engineering consultant. Since 1990, she has been a Consulting Associate Professor at Stanford University where she teaches classes on energy and environment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She holds a BS in Geology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Additionally, she has an MS in Engineering and Petroleum Geology, and an MBA, both from Stanford University. Suzzane H. Woolsey PhD, Lead Trustee, Rocky Mountain Institute Sue Woolsey is Lead Trustee of Rocky Mountain Institute. She chairs the board of the Colorado College and is a trustee of Caltech, Institute for Defense Analyses and the German Marshall Fund. She is a director of two public and two private companies. From 1989 to 2004 she worked with the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering, leading the behavioral and social sciences and as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Communications Officer. She was Associate Director of OMB during the Carter Administration, overseeing the domestic 50% of the federal budget. She was a partner at Coopers and Lybrand in the 1980’s, consulting with universities and research institutes. She wrote editorials at the Washington Post. Her education includes a 1963 BA from Stanford in history and psychology, and MA and PhD degrees in clinical and social psychology from Harvard University. |

Catherine Zoi, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy In her role as Assistant Secretary, Ms. Zoi manages the U.S. Department of Energy’s $2.1 billion applied science, research, development, and deployment portfolio, which promotes marketplace integration of renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies. Additionally, Ms. Zoi oversees EERE’s $16.8 billion in funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Lionel Bony, Director, Office of Chief Scientist, Rocky Mountain Institute As director of OCS, Lionel manages operations and staff and works closely with Amory Lovins on several research and consulting projects, including the 10xE and Natural Capitalism initiatives and RMI’s military projects. He is currently heading the implementation of Winning the Oil Endgame — RMI’s strategy to wean the U.S. completely off oil by 2050, led by business for profit. Stephen Doig, VP, Energy & Resources, Rocky Mountain Institute Stephen Doig is currently a senior member of the Rocky Mountain Institute where he leads the Energy and Resources team. In that role he guides both applied research as well as consulting work in which leading edge concepts are applied to the real world. Research is currently focused on developing the concepts for the next generation of utilities that will run with a significantly lower carbon footprint and accelerating the cost reduction curve for solar energy. The team is also developing the analysis to help States achieve California levels of GDP growth per unit of energy (currently a factor of 2 gap). Consulting work generally applies demand reduction concepts with whole system design to create significantly lower energy and resource requirements at attractive economics. |

Caroline Fluhrer, Consultant, Rocky Mountain Institute Ms. Fluhrer is a Consultant with Rocky Mountain Institute and focuses on sustainable building, green certification, and energy design strategies for educational facilities, office, and industrial facilities as well as existing buildings. Ms. Fluhrer provides building energy modeling, life cycle cost analysis, workshop facilitation, and LEED documentation services for a variety of projects. Recently, she contributed to the development of an energy efficiency retrofit program for the Empire State Building. Currently, she is helping to develop RMI’s new 3‐5 year strategic plan, which includes the development of an initiative focused on existing commercial building retrofits. Research efforts focus on the business case for green building and green leasing strategies. |

Ginni Galicinao, Senior Development Officer, Rocky Mountain Institute Ms. Galicinao helped found and leads RMI’s National Solutions Council. She is responsible for cultivating and nurturing RMI’s major individual donors and foundations. Ms. Galicinao led the effort to bring in and successfully complete RMI’s largest matching challenge gift. Ms. Galicinao was also the Celebration Director for RMI25: Celebrating Solutions (www.rmi.org/RMI25), a celebration of RMI’s 25 years that included dignitaries such as President William Jefferson Clinton and Thomas Friedman. She has played a lead role in the creation of the content and selection of speakers for RMI2009: From Ideas to Solutions. She has served as Executive Director of LEAP (a nationally recognized arts and architecture in education program), Vice President with the United Way of the Bay Area, and Development Director for the Aspen Educational Research Foundation. Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson, Program Director, Rocky Mountain Institute Hutch brings to RMI a strong track record of transformational change and a diverse experience that applies well to our work. He is a mechanical engineer with graduate training in heat transfer and thermodynamics, and his early career concentrated on energy conservation (as it was called way back then) and alternative energy including advanced engines, codes for analyzing energy use in buildings, and many other now-familiar topics. Michael Potts, Chief Executive Officer, Rocky Mountain Institute Mr. Potts was an active trustee before he joined the RMI management team in early 2007 after more than 25 years as a growth-oriented high-technology executive. His most recent commercial position was as CEO of American Fundware, which nearly tripled in revenues during his tenure and produced the award-winning FundWare software suite for non-profit and governmental organizations. AFW was acquired in 2002 by Intuit, maker of the Quickbooks and TurboTax. Previously, Potts worked in sales, marketing and general management positions for IBM, BancTec, and Recognition International. He spent many years working internationally and served for a time as Managing Director of an Australian subsidiary. Llewellyn Wells, Vice President, Communications, Rocky Mountain Institute As Vice President of Communications, Mr. Wells ensures the clear and effective messaging of RMI’s work. His leadership in media, branding, and communications has helped the organization reach a significantly wider audience. Having produced a number of feature films and television programs, Mr. Wells is highly experienced in rolling out large-scale media campaigns and initiatives. He spent twenty years in the entertainment industry and was involved in the production of fourteen feature films and five television series. Some of the films that he worked on include “Bagdad Cafe,” “The Grifters,” “Dogfight,” and “Under Suspicion.” As one of the original producers of “The West Wing,” Llewellyn is honored to have won five Emmy Awards and two Producers Guild Awards. |
